Alyssa McCullion
Counseling Intern - Starting October 2026
As a mother of a neurodivergent and disabled child, Alyssa understands the unique joys, challenges, and complexities of navigating a world that was not designed with all families in mind. She knows firsthand that conventional parenting advice often misses the mark for neurodivergent children and their caregivers. Her lived experience as a rare mom is at the heart of her work and fuels her passion for supporting others on similar journeys.

Alyssa believes that people are individuals to be understood, valued, and supported—not problems to be fixed. She welcomes each person into therapy exactly as they are and strives to create a space where authenticity, curiosity, and connection can flourish.
Drawing from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Child-Centered Play Therapy, and AutPlay Therapy, Alyssa tailors her approach to honor each individual's unique strengths, experiences, and needs. Through a humanistic and relational lens, she offers a warm, compassionate presence as she walks alongside parents, children, and individuals navigating “the path less traveled.”

Alyssa is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Capella University. Before entering the counseling field, she gained experience across a variety of settings, which contributes to her grounded, empathic, and well-rounded perspective. Her transition into mental health was inspired by a desire to provide the kind of neurodiversity-affirming, family-centered support she recognized was deeply needed within her own community.

Outside of the office, Alyssa enjoys spending time with her children and partner, getting lost in a good book, and mindlessly knitting her next pair of socks.
