Savannah Barr

Savannah is a second-year graduate student at Rider University, working toward her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Savannah earned her B.S. in Psychology with a minor in Kinesiology from Penn State University, which informs her knowledge of the mind-body connection and has shaped her passion for infusing somatic techniques into her work.

Savannah approaches counseling through a holistic lens–taking into account the connections between mind, body, environment, spirituality and relationships. She sees and embraces everyone’s unique path to healing and works to collaborate with her clients to find the approach that works for them. Savannah has a strengths-based, person-centered lens, and strives to create a safe and warm environment for clients to blossom into their most authentic selves.

In Savannah's years of experience as an athlete and coach, she has supported individuals of all ages to learn skills, navigate mental blocks, and build resilience. She has a particular passion for working with children and adolescents, who respond well to her kind, encouraging presence. Additionally, Savannah is passionate about empowering individuals, and particularly athletes, to cultivate a healthy body image and a positive relationship with food. She loves working with clients working to build self-confidence, overcome perfectionistic tendencies, and cope with performance anxiety.

Savannah has advanced training in Child-Centered Play Therapy, Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) and integrates these practices into her work to help clients dive deeper and strengthen relationships. Savannah’s experience as a crisis hotline worker has provided her with suicide prevention and intervention skills as well as emotional de-escalation techniques and coping resources for her clients.

Outside of work, Savannah likes to spend her time figure skating, baking, reading, being in nature, watching sports, and hanging out with her cat Oliver, guinea pig Casanova, dogs Carson & Rose, and alpacas Jake Elliot & Saquon Barrkley.
